About the Department

The Department of Agronomy was established in the year 2020. The department involved in teaching of Agronomy for both undergraduates and postgraduates since its inception. The department has been actively catering the research needs of crop production by the farming community. In addition, the department mandated to develop novel and cost effective production technology for efficient and optimal utilization of the natural resources. The department offers various courses both for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programme.

The Department of Agronomy strive to equipped students with the tools they need to serve the communities through agriculture. Through each facet of our work, we emphasize the importance of sustainable and efficient practices to conserve our resources and protect the land.

The mission of the Agronomy department at Rajiv Gandhi University is to offer a high-quality, comprehensive, integrated, and unique undergraduate/postgraduate academic program in Agronomy and related fields to service the needs of Arunachal Pradesh and other states of India. The department will accomplish its mission by:

• Using an interdisciplinary agro-ecosystem approach to integrate all aspects of agronomy.
• Promoting the responsible, ethical use and management of air, water, soil, plant, and animal resources including sustainability in agricultural practices.
• Inculcate global perspectives in addressing local and regional agricultural issues.
• Teaching a wide variety of agronomy courses both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Working closely with allied programs for widening the perspectives.
• Interacting and cooperating closely with various agricultural industry and community groups.
• Support and sustain the traditional crop production, apart from investigating novel production techniques for continued productivity enhancement.
• Conducting appropriate university and community service.
