Department of Geography

About the Department:

Department was established in 1992 with a student intake of 20. It offered multiple optional papers way ahead of current standard of choice based syllabus. Since then the Department has good academic output coupled with research activities. The Department shifted to the present building in 2002.

OBJECTIVES:

•Enabling students with developed skill to think and analyze at spatial-temporal framework.
•Assist students to understand mechanism and function of nature: geo-bio-anthro sphere
•Skill development and capacity building among students to engage themselves in agro-horti sector; social service and campaign for development and other economic entrepreneurship.
•Enhancing logical and reasoning capacity of students through choice based syllabi to have a competitive edge in NET/JRF/SLET and competitive examinations.
•Guide them to attain leadership skill and real-life-&-on-field problem solving skill through field visit and survey.
•Intertwine traditional knowledge with modern tools for excellence with an aim to connect roots with shoots
