About Department
The Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, is situated within the main campus of Rajiv Gandhi University at Rono Hills, Doimukh, Arunachal Pradesh. It was established in 2020. The department is currently focused on offering the B.Sc. (Honours) Agriculture degree program, which has been admitting students since 2020. Additionally, the department started offering M.Sc. (Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry) and Ph.D. (Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry) programs from the academic session 2024-2025. The goal of the department is teaching, research and extension activities for enhancing agricultural productivity.

| Mission | Pioneering research on optimizing agricultural practices in Arunachal Pradesh’s unique soil conditions, including: – Development of organic farming techniques – AI-based soil fertility mapping and modeling – Creation of region-specific biofertilizers – Refinement of Jhum cultivation methods – Implementation of efficient Agroforestry models · Offering a degree program in Agriculture to equip students with knowledge and skills for self-employment opportunities. · Integration of soil science with related fields like forestry, agroforestry, horticulture, environmental studies, and fisheries for a comprehensive understanding of agriculture. · Dissemination of research findings through publications in reputable international and national journals, along with active participation in conferences. |
